I should study for my exams, but instead of that I’m watching anime again. I really don’t know how I’m going to pass my exams. College is hard! :( Okay, nobody is interested in that, so let’s talk about the anime! I’ve watched Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch/ Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV Series, 25 episodes). It’s a masterpiece, I can’t find words to describe how much I love it.
The plot is very original and elaborated. Code Geass is set in an alternate universe where three superpowers control the world. One of them is the Holy Britannian Empire who conquers Japan in 2010. The story begins 7 years later.
The main character, Lelouch Lamperouge (his real name is Lelouch vi Britannia) is a Britannian prince, who was disowned by his father, the Britannian Emperor, after his mother was murdered. Lelouch wants to destroy his father and Britannia. He gains a power called Geass, which allows him to make people obey his orders. However, it can only be used once on a given person. With his new power, Lelouch begins his rebellion against the Empire. He intends to take revenge for his mother and to create a world where his sister, Nunnally can live happily. Lelouch forms the Order of the Black Knights and takes up the identify of Zero to lead them.
The original character designs were created by Clamp. They did a very good job, so I’m thankful for this. You know, I think Lelouch is pretty similar to Kamui from „X”. (I mean his looks.) Well, both characters were created by Clamp, so maybe it’s not surprising, but it was my first thought when I’ve seen Lelouch for the first time. Oh, and when I heard that he calls himself Zero, I immediately associated him with Zero from Vampire Knight. :) Poor boy, he constantly reminds me of vampires. XD
Anyway, I love Lelouch, he is absolutely my favourite character. I know that he is not perfect, he does some really evil things, but I still love him. (Love is blind, right? XD) It’s like in Death Note, I love Light even if he killed a lot of people as Kira. (Okay, I really have to stop comparing Lelouch to other people.) I guess there are some serious problems with my taste… It’s not my fault that I’m interested in people who have interesting personality! (Maybe my definition of „interesting” is the problem. :P) So I like bad boys, big deal. I like good guys, too. Sometimes. Occassionally. Every now and then. Well, I think you understand. XD And Lelouch has good qualities, too. He is smart, intelligent and charismatic, he loves his sister very much and cares for his friends (for a while, at least), and of course it doesn’t hurt that he’s incredibly good-looking. XD
Another important character is Suzaku Kururugi, Lelouch’s childhood friend and the son of Japan’s last prime minister. Unfortunately, Suzaku is in the service of the Britannia Army, he and Lelouch are on different sides. Besides, their beliefs differ, too, so it’s inevitable that they’re enemies. Let’s say they’re rivals, okay? That sounds better. Although after Euphemia’s death, Suzaku pretty much wants to kill Zero, so that’s makes them mortal enemies. I guess it can’t be helped. :( It’s sad because they should be friends… Well, if you ask me they should be lovers, but you know me, I’m a sucker for slash. XD However, I don’t think it matters because I would be surprised if Lelouch won’t die in the second season. Now, THAT is really tragical. :(
I should talk about a lot of other characters, but it would take too much time, and I’d like to watch the sequel, because at the end of the first season Suzaku discovered that Lelouch is Zero, and they attempted to shoot one another, we heard a gunshoot and the season ended, so I’m REALLY curious about what happened.
